Internet & managed networks — Kiama, NSW
Kiama's summer crowds test every network on Terralong Street. We build wifi that stays up when the town is full.
One local team, four ways to help.
- Internet plans — available Australia-wide, delivered and supported from Kiama and the wider region.
- Managed Wi-Fi & mesh networks — dead zones eliminated, properly designed for the property, not guesswork.
- Business & hospitality connectivity — for short-stay, hospitality and commercial properties in Kiama that need it to just work.
- Smart access & security integration — gate access, cameras and carpark connectivity, on professional-grade equipment.
Kiama's population triples in summer, and the wifi needs to cope with every one of them.
Kiama had about 14,800 people in the urban area at the 2021 census, and that roughly triples when the holidays hit. The Blowhole draws the crowds, Terralong Street is a run of cafes, galleries and shops, and the harbour has a seafood market and fishing boats. Every one of those businesses needs a network that does not fall over at 11 on a Saturday.
Kiama Downs and Minnamurra were among the early NBN fibre release sites, with construction starting in 2010. Other parts of the municipality, particularly the hinterland farms around Jamberoo and Foxground, are a different story, and fixed wireless or Starlink is common out there.
In February 2013 a tornado damaged around 75 homes in Kiama, which is a good reminder that outdoor gear and cabling should be built properly. We use weatherproof UniFi equipment and can monitor it remotely.
Jaspers Berry, a wedding venue about 25 minutes down the highway, is one we built a guest wifi portal for, with a Google review email sent afterwards. The same approach works for Kiama accommodation and cafes.
